Jewish group of branches: R2a

Introduction

The Jewish branches can be grouped according to their Y-DNA characteristics. These characteristics are often related to a period between 10000ybp-4000ybp. Some branches had a founding father effect in that period outside the Middle East which gives information on the location of their ancestor at the time of the founding father. For other branches it is more likely that the ancestors were in the Middle East, where, in most cases, no founding father effect took place and population growth was continuous. An overview of the Jewish groups of branches is present.

Characteristics

The R2a haplogroups have only small percentages of ancestors outside the Middle East. It is probably that out of the reported branches here we have a branch AB-083 that is far from the other R2a Jewish branches. It is likely that the AB-085 descends from a middle eastern branch that has descending branches AB-085, AB-214, AB-215, AB-216 and AB-265. It is also likely that the person reported on Yfull as YF04576 from Kuwait descends from the shared ancestor. At the moment the STR and public SNP information is insufficient to determine whether and when the ancestor changed relation. It is also not clear yet whether it was a change from the Jewish religion to the Islam religion or the other way around.
