Jewish group of branches: E1b-M81

The Jewish branches can be grouped according to their Y-DNA characteristics. These characteristics are often related to a period between 10000ybp-4000ybp. Some branches had a founding father effect in that period outside the Middle East which gives information on the location of their ancestor at the time of the founding father. For other branches it is more likely that the ancestors were in the Middle East, where, in most cases, no founding father effect took place and population growth was continuous. An overview of the Jewish groups of branches is present.

The percentages of M81=M183 are high in north-western Africa. In a Morocco study it reached frequencies of 65-98% among the Berber communities. High percentages are in the bordering countries of Algeria, Tunesia en Spain.

It seems most likely that the ancestor of these branches became Jewish in Iberia.

No known SNP timeestimates have been reported.

The ancestor (M81) was estimated before as 8.2kybp. On one can see the M183 tree as M81. It is a tree that had many branches in the Roman times, about 2100ybp. The branches are spread all around the regions of Mediterranean.

The branches that are V65 or probably V65 are not in the same tree, but it is most likely that the history of these lines are very similar as the M81-lines. V65 has also a founding father effect near 2100ybp in the area of Morocco, Algeria. They are also listed on this page.
