Jewish Y-DNA branch AB-076

Introduction

The U152-branch originates from Europe. It is unlikely this branch originates from the Middle-East.

On the https://www.familytreedna.com/public/R1b-U152-Z145?iframe=yresults page one can see that R1b-U152-Z145-L4-a and R1b-U152-Z145-L4-b are L4. In this group (on this page) only one person additional is reported as L4: 217503 from Mexico. The STR-distances of these three groups (2 Ashkenazi groups and 1 Iberian person) are consistent to descend from a shared Iberian ancestor between 0-1000 CE.

NGS testing was done by several Ashkenazi descendants. Yfull gives an estimate of a tmrca of 550 CE, with a serious uncertainty. The person from Mexico has significant distance from the two Ashkenazi subbranches. He has not done a NGS test. It is likely that the shared ancestor of the present Askenazi subbranches was Jewish. Whether the person in Mexico descends from the same period (and has Jewish Iberian ancestry) or has older shared ancestor (and has a shared ancestor before a person became Jewish in Iberia) is not yet known. This will become clearer after an NGS test.

This branch is in the -group of Jewish Branches.
