Jewish Y-DNA branch AB-065

Introduction

This branch is well described in three articles by Gurianov et al. in 2014-2015: 2014a, 2014b and 2015.

In Y2200 (TMRCA of 1550ybp) two Ashkenazi Jewish branches are reported. Older parallel branches (Y2209, TMRCA of 3400ybp) are found in Italy and the Netherlands (Hoff).

A period longer ago (Y2220, TMRCA of 3900ybp) has three branches of about the same age: a Swiss branch, a Turkish Jewish branch (Q-Y2220-E5340) and North African Jewish branch.

It is likely that the ancestors of these groups came from an area in the middle east where the Jewish religion was strong before they spread geographically. One descendant contributed to the Q1-Ashkenazi group (1550 ybp), one to the Italian (2900ybp), YF01379 (Turkey,3400 ybp), the Dutch group (Hoff, 3400 ybp), the Swiss group (3900ybp), the North African Jewish group (3900ybp) and the Turkish Jewish group (3900ybp).

The timeschema and historic context can not (yet) discriminate between an origin in the area of the land of e.g. Israel, the area of Bagdad, or Anatolia. It is unlikely that the origin is from an area where the Jewish religion was always a small minority. Since the amount of Q1-L245 branches is small, it is also unlikely that the branches became Jewish in different geographical areas.
